| The XBLOK has arrived!! |
We have a very succesful contingent of Trials riders here at Omega, due to the rigours of top competition we find a number of parts that would benefit from redesign.
One of the most recent was the XBLOK chain tensioner pad. This was developed to counter the problems of existing chain tensioner designs. Namely they get damaged by obstructions within the trials section.
A design was developed utilising a large chamfer and hidden fixing bolts. This had the welcome advantage of being a much more aesthetically pleasing product.
The first stage was to submit a patent application which entails detailed drawings and explanation of the product.
The next stage was to 3D print an actual tensioner using our ZCorp printer.
From the tensioner a mould could be envisioned and design took place.
The mould was then constructed using our Hurco maching centre and can be seen at the bottom of the page. |

To give you an idea of timescale this product went from our design in solidworks to a manufactured item using a injection moulding tool in 14 days.
This product has been on the market for about 18 months now and sales are going extremely well. |
